O.K. I will try to offers some advice and explain why I did not rate this picture high. First of all the fit to the challenge theme : it does not really express roundness to me, although the flower is round. People already commented on the crop you did which removed some roundness. Second, I am sensitive in my voting for originality and quality. A different angle, an original twitch, something which creates a smile, or just sheer beauty. And that is very difficult with a flower shot because there are so many of them around. Yours is o.k. but the flower is bang in the middle, straight from the top and does not get additional points from me because of that. Try to catch peoples attention, by sheer beauty, by originality, by humor, by raising a question. Base condition is a good fit to the theme. And ensure it is also technically a good photograph by choosing the composition, light, focus etc so it supports the message you want to get across. hope this helps. Willem

Hey, I see you're from State College! Resident or student? I live in Bellefonte for four years...worked for Mike's Video for three of those LOL.

Anyway, as far as the photo goes...I'm going to agree with the comments below in saying that the crop is a little too tight on the flower. A wider negative space around the bloom would have left more of a round and less of a square feeling.

I like the color and the texture of the bloom, but the focus seems a little soft. Perhaps a slightly smaller aperture (larger number) to bring a little more of the bloom into focus might make it better.

I envy you your choices of photographic subjects up in the State College area...the park in Bellefonte could keep me busy for weeks LOL. Eat a chicken cheesesteak from Penn State Subs for me would ya?

I really expected to do better with this photo than what I did. If you have any more suggestions, please let me know!

Great color. Maybe need to zoom back out a touch for better focus.

Pretty yellow flower! Good focus and color. Your title says to me "tight circle", but the flower isn't a tight circle, even if it basically circular - challenge accepted, but I'd suggest a different title. The cropping cuts off the circular pattern even more. As much as I like this flower, the best I can go is a 6. Rob the Swash
