Can only borrow from other commenters: mostly what TC said, and a purrfect example of the slice of moment that makes photography exciting. |

This is why people should take pictures. Really, really a great shot, imho. Love the tones, the lighting, the motion, the clarity of the cat and the DOF to blur the woman just "so". |

this shot is so much more interesting than most animal shots..a simple reason..it tells a story..choice of tones is perfect..I gave it a 7...and think maybe that is too low..well done.. |

This deserved a much higher placement. It had so much to say. I love it. |

Something about your image just tugs at my heart strings. Perhaps because it contains two subjects I am fond of - the elderly and animals. The shaky hand just adds to the overall impact for me. I like the choice of black and white too. Great job! 10 |

I think this would be a stronger photo if the cat stood out more. maybe burn out the person petting would help. |

Probably not what you intended - but my first impression was that an unsuspecting cat will shortly be torn open from behind. I love the look on the woman's face. 6 |

I almost clicked on a six as soon as I saw this shot, but I had to stop and look at it some more. This is one of those shots that makes you stop and look again. And again. And again. The first thing I saw was the kittie. Then the hands caressing the kittie. Then I saw the whole scene. The story behind the scene. The emotion involved in the making of the shot.
There are so many things 'wrong' with this. It's soft focus where one would normally expect things to be sharp. It's very busy. There is confusing motion blur. It's blown out in many areas. But the emotional impact of the shot when you actually SEE the shot is incredible. I'm glad I didn't just click and move on like I'm afraid many will. You have captured an incredible moment that will never be the same again. I hope this does well here but am afraid that it won't. If it moves one other individual the way it moved me it won't matter what it scores here. You will have scored more than any cyber ribbon could ever be worth.
Kudos

Very sweet. Blurry hand may be a bit distracting. |

Really nice candid...the bond between a cat and it's person can be so strong...as seen in the image...well done. |

I never vote high on cat shots, but this is a really wonderful composition. The blurred hand is a little distracting. I prefer the other hand when you can see the detail. Nice work. Good luck! |

Great shot. But, with so much going on it doesn't have the feel of an off-center shot. The elderly woman's intensity is great. |

I like this shot, though the hand movement is a bit distracting. Without the title, it takes a moment to settle on the cat as the subject. He's very focused and that's great. It's just that hand movement that kind of makes my eyes jump a lot. Oh, and cute cat! |
