This is an excellent capture.
A tight crop taking you closer into the subjects and eliminating the background would add to the impact for me...but super image all the same.

| That is SUCH a cool photo! What amazing friends those 2 are! Such trust on the part of the dog! This one. . .although I think it may have had more impact if it wasn't quite so centered -- maybe incorporating the rule of thirds a little better -- but emotionally, it touches me -- aLOT -- so it gets a 10 from me :) |

| Aww, Very cute! If I wasn't looking at my dog right now, I would swear that was him. This really gives off a nice innocent and playful feel with this picture. All the brown hues nicely add to the warmth. Well done! |

Even if I were to believe that this image conveys "love", since the challenge topic was romance, this would still fail to qualify.
The color palate used in the image is interesting. I imagine that this is roughly what it looked like in person, but playing with the white balance might produce a more pleasing result. Shooting this with a shallower DoF and getting rid of the green trash can in the background (either by recomposing or cropping it out) would have improved the image. |

| Great capture, cute poses, nice color, good sharpness and DOF. Crop out garbage can would be better and also less-central better composition. |

| Awww. I think this might have been more suitable for a "friendship" challenge, but it works OK, here, as well. Very endearing capture; I like it a lot. |

| Crop out the trash can and shed. The pony and dog don't have to be centered. |
