Challenge: Singled-Out (Advanced Editing IV)
Camera: Kodak DX4530
Location: St. Ann Missouri
Date: Jan 14, 2006
Aperture: f4.8
ISO: 120
Shutter: 1/500
Galleries: Family, Candid
Date Uploaded: Jan 15, 2006

Taken this weekend at my mother in laws house. Camera was hand held and I was again using my 2x telephoto lense. I really liked the expression on her face. Cropped to accent the curl of her hair and get a closer view of the face. Also did an auto levels and contrast in ps7.

Positives are a nice candid shot of an attractive subject with good focus. However the challenge details requested that you use shallow DOF to isolate your subject and I don't really see that in this photo. Also the sun is really very bright on the her right side which detracts from the photo. Good luck

Okay, so it's one person, but she doesn't really seem 'singled out' from a crowd. Highlights on her face and shirt are pretty hot...maybe try putting her in later afternoon light to soften them a little bit. The crop is pretty good...focuses on her face but leaves a little bit of the background in just to be more interesting. Sweet expression :)

Cute portrait, but no crowds depicted here to be singled-out from by minimal depth of field.

It's a portrait with too much light from the side (but well balanced shadows to keep details there). Still, she's not "singled out".

A cute portrait, but she is not realy singled out: there is nothing else in the picture.

Doesn't look like it is "singled out", a bit too moved and out the face it too burned out. Sorry

This looks more like a portrait to me than singled out of a crowd.

I'm looking for a crowd (or at least more than one person), but don't see one :(

Single-out a person in a crowd as your source of composition// Where's the crowd.

looks a little too posed rather than candid, considering you also know her name and there is no crowd around...have to take the points away from this because it's not true to the challenge topic...sorry

A couple of things here are going to hit you. She's not singled out of a crowd nor is the depth of field very short. You need to get down to f2.8 and long lenses to get that effect the best

This doesn't meet the challenge description. Plus, too much light on her right side. Looks washed out. 2
