Greetings from the Critique Club
YOur use of Black & White to create this image is, I think, a good choice. You have framed the woman in the back quite well with the older woman to the left and your girlfriend to the right. Except for the framing, I don't really see that she is "singled out" either by being sharper or brighter than the others. I'm sure you noticed that none of the figures are in sharp focus. The backlighting probably didn't help your camera function.
I think you were nicely rewarded for a pleasant, but candid, shot that some viewers felt met the challenge successfully.
I wish you continued success in your DP Challenges!

You're probably getting some negative comments about having a large oof object in the fg - I happen to like it in this context because of where she's looking. The main subject is framed nicely and the oof fg eye draws you right to her.
Good PP too, nice photo. |

Love the grainy photojournalistic feeling. This is a great shot. |

the womans face in the foreground is overly distracting |

Nice attempt, grain does not bother me, blacks good, whites blown out, nice texture, overall very good |

Which of the old ladies is singled out? And how is the half-face on the right justified compositionally? I think that it happened by mistake, and, while it does demonstrate how DOF works, the shot is not an interesting one. |

really like how your foreground subject's eye points to your background subjects and allows the viewer's eye to easily move around the image. the blown highlights i believe are actually a plus as they draw the eye as well. Overall the background subjects don't really hold my interest though. Nevertheless, daring submission, good job. |

perhaps too tight a crop as the lady on the right is scary! Also, probably should have waited for a better moment rather than the lady wiping her mouth, you could have had her sipping a drink or something |

It works. The girl in the foreground really gives it the depth. |

I like the grain of this. The woman in the foreground with her eye darting to the left, sends my eye directly to the woman wiping her mouth. I wish the woman to her left were slightly out of focus more. Good one - different. |

I like this but I think it would have been better with the focus on the close girl rather than the woman in the back. 6 |
