I can't believe no one has commented on this since the challenge! What a nice capture of a rare bird so far off shore. I wonder if he was living on the oil rig that is in your other images? I did not know that owls would fly that far unless they were blown by the wind. I am happy that it found a place to perch and rest, and that you were there with your camera. |

Nice composition. Exposure is right on for the owl. Whatever the owl is perched upon looks very flat - speaking of color and exposure. |

I like the simple composition here but I think a closer crop to show more detail would have been nice. |

I can't really pinpoint what I don't like in this photo, but the entire overall presentation just leaves me uninterested. Perhaps it's the harsh daylight lighting, or duller color presentation.. I don't really know. |

Pretty pic of the Snowy Owl. I'm confused by your title. I can't see any water anywhere. I think Knots is a measure of speed, not distance. Nautical Miles are nautial miles, Knots are Nautical Miles per hour? Maybe I'm wrong. |

It's irrelevant to my scoring (nice shot) but "knots" is a unit of speed, not of distance. In the old days they threw a propeller-thingie (the "log"" off the side of the ship and played out line with knots on it between their fingers for a specified amount of time, hence "making 7 knots". Now a "knot" is one nautical mile per hour. You may return to your regular program now, sorry to be pedantic. As I said, NO effect on the score, and love your owl. |
