 It was hard to choose a "the best" picture of 2005. Really looking forward to seeing all the submissions from this challenge.

This shot was taken while on a 5 day hike along the West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island BC. This trail is a must for any avid hiker (although it is very much crowded the views are amazing) Took a little too long that day to get to the campsite and ended up hiking in the dark ... happened to sumble over many rocks then BLAM rounded this corner on the beach and was blown away by this AMAZING sunset .. glad my girlfriend was with me at the time :) Snapped around 40 shots before heading off to the campsite for the night.

Photoshop:
2 Layers (one for sky and one for water)
top layer: changed levels & used auto colour, and decreased suns burn by copying out the burned section on a new layer)
bottom layer: changed levels and cloned out a few imperfections here and there

Good use of the branches for framing, might prefer to see the sky a little more polarized to make those white clouds jump out of the sky so to speak

Beautiful colors. However, having the stand of trees centered ruins the composition in my opinion. It almost makes the trees distracting. Cropping a little of the right and maybe a tad off the bottom would make this so much more dynamic.
