 This is a personal project i've been 'harvesting' for a few months already, so obviously, seeing that dpc.com featured such a challenge, i had to jump on it and try my luck ;)

I have a very good friend who's an amazing cook, and currently stuying in this crazy world of cooking, and has been for the past few years. He's one of the best 'youngsters' out there.

Anyhow, i asked is help, which he granted with an amazing pleasure. being very talented in the plate presentation, he did a series of different plates, entrées, main dishs and deserts and i picked this one as my final submission. Lets just say it was hard not to eat it while taking pictures :)

This is basically a an oiled up piece of salmon, cooked in a plate over fire, with some good spices (cajun and paprica mixed up). Putting lots of the spice on one side of the fish, you then put it directly in the cooking plate, at high, without any butter/oil or cooking helpers. you want the spices to burn, which gives this fish its amazing colour. You let it there for about 4 mins, until about half the fish is cooked. Then put it in the oven at broil for another 4 mins, so that the rest of the fish quickly cooks. Rest on a few spoons of Israelien Couscous (white little balls)and vegetables. Sprinkle some herbs and salad on top, with a good mango sauce, and you are ready to serve. This plate is so easy to do, its a crime.

Editing wise: Lots of RAW tweaks - colours, vigneting, lighting, and temperature.

In photoshop: Level, Curves, Contrast, HUEs, Lightness, Saturations. Crop and angle for effect, image sizing (640 height...) and then some sharpness adjustments.

Voilà!

I hope this entry does honor to my friend, who did an amazing job with this and was nice enought to take 2 whole evenings for preparations, cookings and to teach me how to make those plates!

Nice arrangement, colors, sharpness, and composition. A touch more saturation might help. Looks tasty, and hope it does well.

Great presentation!

It would be interesting to see this with a wider crop and softer lighting, especially on the left piece of salmon.

Vibrant palette, green on the veggies on the dish matches blurred background, nice touch.
Very crisp and well coordianted colors- down to me sauce melting down in the meet- bravo. Too much empty space at the bottom of the image disturbs the composition slightly- maybe a blurred foreground element, a leaf or fruits off focus would bring the the whole ssetting together? Great photo, bravo!

Yum. I really can't wait to get this recipe. technically a great photo. I just think the crop on the side is a little to tight, but overall a nice picture

Good composition and excellent use of DOF. The meal is the center of focus. USM, however, is slightly overdone and the light a tad bit harsh.

This looks tasty, good colors but the light is to strong on the salmon on the left. The vegetables are looking great though.

Wonderful shot. Maybe lose the lint between the white lines - lower left. Otherwise, great! (Rhymes with '8')

Ok come on down to my dorm room and start cookin ;) Seriously you have no idea the poor excuses for food we have to eat here... Good dof, some minor artifacts on the table cloth... difficult to fix in basic so hm...
