Valentine portrait of Flopsy, a 9-year-old mini-lop buck rabbit, hopefully better than yet-another-pet-shot. Halo, bow and arrow are made from chenille (decorative pipe cleaner), wings are made from vellum. Backlit with one halogen lamp directly behind, another from above, and a battery lantern from the front.
This is the best photo for submission of 123 exposures of various decorations, poses, and rabbits. Discarded decorations included: gold chenille that was too dull in color and red chenille edging of wings that failed to stay in place.
This challenge was especially difficult as the rabbits have minds of their own. Flopsy didn't like the lights, elevation, and the slippery table - the table cloth was essential. Compared to other exposures, the wing position is not the best, and the wings are blown out so the rose bush pattern in the vellum is lost - I may be shopping for lamps with dimmers. But to meet the challenge, this exposure best demonstrates effective backlighting in the fur fringe, whiskers, halo, wings, and even transparency in the bunny's left ear.
Title is a play on the words cherub, cherubim, and cheri (french for darling) bunny. This is probably lost on most people, but I like it.
