This was my favorite in the challenge, and your use of DOF is excellent. It isn't too far different from my entry (although I prefer yours because of the marbling of the meat) and it seems obvious to me that people picked flat, boring snapshots over truly interesting photographic compositions like this one. Try getting a feel for cooking something from the "winning" entry - bah! |

This image was one of the best in the Challenge and should have easily placed in the Top 10 or even 5. By the judging, one would assume that DPCers don't read cookbooks or food magazines....what a shame.

Looks very interesting. I'd like to see a bit more definition in the mushrooms, onions, and ?orange?; a wider depth of field would help, I think. |

A bit brighter and this would be perfect, although it could be my monitor, I'll double check later on another one.
Nevermind, it was the monitor:-) |

this is a great photo and I am sure once all cooked would taste great. however raw meat never never appeals to me. The photo is nice, I like the shallow dof |

Nice arrangement. The way you use shallow DOF to draw the eye to the sharp focused meat yet convey the idea that everything else is supplimental to it is a wonderfully accomplished even if that was not your intent. It is a subtle touch that makes this a good image. On my monitor, which is recently calibrated, makes the composition look a little too dark in some facing areas. A soft light from the front left side would make it look better. |

Well done, love the sharp focus on the meat with the other ingredients being slightly out of focus. Nice colors and appetising arrangement, the slight flare on the scallions is just a very wee bit distracting, otherwise great pic |

Very nicely done, though I think it's a tad underexposed. |

Challenge
- Relevant to the Challenge? Yes.
- Is subject unique (vs. unoriginal or rehashed)? Yes
Compostion
- Good or Bad? How can it be fixed? Great compostition/arangement. Do me a favor? Pick that one seed out of the lemon. (I hope I'm not nit-picking...
- Good use of Depth of Field? Yes, the background is nicely out-of-focus with the marbled ham looking marvelous.
Lighting
- Good use of light? Yes, however a touch of foreground lighting would take care of that dark bit of the sliced ham. Some of the shadows are blocked-up.
Aesthetics/Artistic Appeal:
- What is my reaction or feelings? It's been years since I've eaten pork, but this is a very appealing image. |

Excellent photo. Needs slight brightness/contrast adjustment or slightly higher ambient lighting. |

Finally! A picture that doesn't look like a snapshot of lunch! Good colors and textures, and you understand the use of depth of field. |
