A cobalt blue vase placed on the window sill in front of mini blinds. I fear it won't be seen as meeting the challenge because I'm not shining an artificial light source behind the vase. My backlighting source is the natural light coming in through the blinds behind the vase (a little too dark on the right or bottom and too bright on the left or top). I like the effect that the lighting created on the subject and tilting the camera at such an angle created the blinds to appear curved which matched the shape of the vase. So even if it DNMC to some and scores low I'm looking forward to any and all comments concerning what others think about it :)
All auto settings on camera and macro - natural light.
Editing:
In ACDSee: Rotate, crop, auto levels, contrast, gamma, blackpoint, despeckle, sharpen.
In PSP7: salt and pepper, sharpen, edge preserver, re-size, and border.
Notes: Wish the blue were as crisp as the blinds, the blinds a little less crisp to reduce that edge noise, and I'm still on the fence concerning the rotate up and down or sideways like this. I think sideways looks better, plus it gives more of a sense that the blinds are "behind" the vase, which they really are. The up and down version makes it look like the blinds are only off to the right side of the vase - though it's a lot easier to see that it's a vase. It's a strange perspective and image. ....decisions, decisions... |

Why does the blue move away from the white lines I could see a straight transition a juxtaposition of dark and light but the movement in ribs 5-7 detracts |

Nice arrangement. One additional element/color would really make it. |
