 My camera could not get the focus so I have to move closer and farther and judge the focus by looking at screen. I wish this had better contrast.

The flower was plucked and held facing opposite to sun to make it backlit. No artificial light was used.

I gave this a 7. I liked the concept, colors, fading focus and thought the use of backlighting was fairly good. The detail in the filaments/'hairs' in the 'throat' of the flower was what I liked best about this shot. The 'criticism' I had was; because the focus was on the 'throat', that needed to be sharper (sounds like the flower & camera were hand-held, so a tripod or 'fixture' may have helped), the lighting adjusted (difficult) to illuminate more of the throat and 'hairs' in the right places. Overall the composition was nice but if there was more space 'below' the focal point (throat) and possibly even more height in the frame as well (depending what you had to work with of course) would have likely made this better in my opinion. temporary note: if you know the name of this flower & can include it in your comments that would be good, I will check back 'later'

Unusual, abstract but anchored by the real world, I like the frilly details of the anthers(?) and they have a nice touch of backlighting to highlight them. Nice thirds composition. The dark corners draw my eyes away and the subject is so subtle it just doesn't hold my attention somehow.

Too much OOF on this...I would have preferred to see more of the flower. As it is it just looks like a hole to me.

Very nice image technically. I love the shallow DOF, however I personally feel as if this image is very cliched and doesnt have much depth to it. It is pretty to look at though :-)
