**** Greeting from the Critique Club ****
Challenge
- Relevant to the Challenge? Yes
- Is subject unique (vs. unoriginal or rehashed)? Yes
Compostion
- Good or Bad? How can it be fixed? The burst of color is such a small part of the image. I'd like to see it be a more dominant part of the picture. Crop below her elbow and just above the canvas up. It create a more intimate image where the colors really pop.
- Is there anything that should be removed? The girl from the waist down. She looks very stiff and uncomfortable.
- Good use of Depth of Field? Yes
- Good focus? Yes
Lighting
- Good use of light? As people mentioned in your comments below, the lighting from the projector is harsh, although I like that the canvas is highlighted. You can see from the back of the hand that she's overexposed.
- Good use of shadows? The shadows are too pronounced. try adding a smaller light source (40W bulb) to the model's left. At first view I didn't like the shadow to the left of the model, but if cropped properly it would accent the image.
Aesthetics/Artistic Appeal:
- Colors and Contrast
- Sharpness
- What is my reaction or feelings? The first thing the you see is the painting. It's dramatic. It's bold. The you noticed the details, the shadows, the model's hair running across her shoulder. It's got potetntial though.
Congratulations on your third highest score. |

A definate "burst of color" being created here. Her neutral clothing and the grey background all help to make the red pop out more. There is something just a bit dark about the overall shot, though I'm not sure how I would have changed it. Nicely done. |

I like the lighting setup you've chosen to work with here. It gives a very raw and untainted feel to the shot. It also works well to create a focal point in the photo. The subject is nicely composed and the color saturation in the painting is good.... 7 |

Very nice color target... did you paint it for the challenge. She seems a little uncomfortable in this pose... at first I thought she was squatting... I think a standing model might have been better. |

I think I would have liked this better with more natural lighting. but I still like the concept and it fulfills the challenge well. |

This is a very unique entry and scores well for being interesting. I suggest diffusing the lighting a bit to eliminate that harsh and distracting shadow. |

I don't care for the harsh lighting. The sharp shadows only seem to distract from the rest of the composition. I like the fact that the painter is included in the picture (it makes it feel like something other than a photograph of a picture), but I think that including _all_ of her is overkill. The muted colors of the model's clothing work well, but I'd be interested in seeing how altering her saturation in either direction would have changed the mood of the image. |

Nice picture, but the shadows casting over the artwork and the wall distract from the picture, otherwise great :) |

I wish it wasn't set up in a studio...but I like the shot! That's a burst of color if I have ever seen one! |
