Took a trip to Santa Rosa Beach here in Florida. I had SO many shots from this trip for this challenge, it was very hard to choose. Do I just get the sky? Do I get it with ocean behind it? Do I get an on ground seagull with foam around feet? Choices, choices, choices. It was maddening. I even saw some pelicans.
I chose this one because I didn't want the photo to be too busy, or I could have put a photo up that had about 25 seaguls in it, or two, three, four, and so on but I think some would have thought it too much to look at for backlighting. This one was very clear, and I loved the color of the sky. The sun can clearly be seen coming from the back of the seagull by looking at the wings and tail as it filters through. I just kept it simple and elegant.
After this challenge is over, I will post some to my portfolio from this excursion. I got some really gorgeous shots.

Sheer flight rapture with that defining backlight. |

Ah, I'm always impressed by captures of birds in flight. Well framed. |

This is the best backlit bird. He's in sharp focus and the composition is interesting. |
