 Okay okay, I've never been in New Haven. I just like the sound of it. I was actually looking for another one of my typical Luxembourg City photographs, but then my friend Toff asked me to take his picture and it had this 30s style (okay, admittedly I don't know much about the 30s either).

RAW conversion, post processing in PSP9
-Sepia
-Curves
-Levels (reducing light range)
-resize
-sharpening
-adding noise

I would have liked to age it more, but the basic editing and my lack of knowledge on such a process were very limiting.

I really like this shot but to me it just doesn't convey city life - more like rural life particularly with those clothes on

Nice take on City LIfe! Nice clean clear crip image, maybe just a little over sharpened. Love the sepia, it adds to that 1932 feel.

Interesting portrait, though the wall doesn't seem to deserve that much attention and it doesn't seem to express 'city life' very much

haha... 1931 and Gochie glasses? nice shot, but your model looks way to fixed. He's not looking at your camera, but staring into the distance. It might have looked more natural if he was looking down, or actually smoking, but nice shot.

1932 you say... Well that's surely outside the submission timeframe. :-) Good composition, good sepia and the grain effect is ok as well. It's good that his attire is appropriate to the timeframe you suggest. I like this shot - good portrait.

I love the period feel here. Nice choice in tones, and the sepia adds to the mood of the shot. The only issue is that you can't see anything that screams DOCK. So it could literally be any time, any place. Not good or bad. Just is. :)
