Thanks for the critique BMacD! I thought the rings stood out pretty dominant, but I guess as strong as their white is, the black radial cracks as just as strong.
I should have put my camera on the monopod I had with me, but was lazy and handheld it at the edge of the shutter speed/focal length balance. That would have probably addressed the sharpness that a few of you mentioned.
Popdeepop, you're right. I didn't even think of it at the time. I should have lost the teleconverter and shot the edges of the post which was square, adding to the shape theme. |

Hi! Hereâs a comment from the Critique Club.
First impression: Lines and rings draw you into the center, then out and around following the radial cracks. Very center focused.
Find the picture very busy. Lots & lots of minor shapes making bigger shapes, but no dominant, clear or central shape. Picture has very strong âtextureâ
B/W works well for this shot and I like your lighting. The lighting exemplifies the texture comment. Could be a little sharper.
Feel you met the challenge, but you may have had too many âshapesâ :-)

| i think the simplicity of this shot is what makes it so great. the clarity and the lighting are supurb. black and white was an excellent choice for this- very nicely done |

| A striking image. The lighting brings out the textures. Good black and white subject. I wish it was a little sharper. |
