I had a real problem with this image. As stunning as it is, when I loaded it I thought he was a peasant farmer. There's no city, no hint of a city so in no way could I place the subject in city life. As painfull as it was, I had to give it 4.

Loved this portrait. The beard detail is awesome. Great job on exposure. It is perfect from what I am seeing. Thanks for sharing. |

Nice candid portrait. The "matching" beard and hat make a wonderful woolly hamburger bun enclosing his face. I suppose some will be saying "Where's the city?", but where else are you going to find this guy but in a city? He's not going to look comfortable driving a tractor on a farm. He can only be a city guy. It's a very good interpretation of the challenge, to choose a subject that is not the city, but is nevertheless unmistakably part of the city. If the theme was "Africa", the face of a leopard would be equally legitimate, would it not? Bump to 8. |

this is filled w/emotion........... can see him sitting on street corner. Maybe increase contrast a tad or somehow make it brighter / more luminous.....can't offer any specific suggestions as I suck at that sort of thing.....7 |

What a wonderful old character you have taken here called Will, and a great image as well. You have certainly captured city life at it's best..... |

Stunning portrait! Need I say any more? Colour is brilliant, composition is great. Bordering on being over-sharpened, but not quite (for this size at least). Perhaps for this challenge placing him in the city (via the background) would have been effective, but it's still a great shot. |

Did you even try to adhere to the guidelines? This has nothing to do with "city life." |

A great portrait! Not very city-ish, though, but I think you'll do very well by the quality alone.
Edit to add, dnmc... sorry, no context. |

this portrait works without a background because the man is his own background. I see a city living in him, so I will give this portrait one more point than the other good portraits I've seen. |

Kind of a close crop to really be a clear example of city life but this does look like a city character. |

Excellent photo! I like the cropping and the use of color, I find myself converting too many of these type of photos to Black and White. I have taken a lot of shots similar to this and this one I like, he looks so tired or stoned, not sure which. 8 . |
