::: Critique Club :::

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

Interesting to do a critique on your image but it is difficult if you don't give us any information in your photographers comments. When we do a critique, we go past just the photographic result, that's what voters comments do. The critique looks at what you were trying to achieve, how you wanted it to look and what issues you had in getting the image captured and ready for voting.

First Impression - the most important one:
I have so been there. But I also had to look twice to get a full understanding - this is a good thing.

Composition:
Really good composition, the added border works as not being overpowering. The sepia tones work. This is such a candid shot. Good cropping, although I did find it a little centred for my own taste.

Subject:
Lovely choice of subject matter, which meets the challenge well.

Technical (Colour and light):
Thie lighting used is good. There is no real colour to comment on here :)

To grow its vote?:
Take note of what the other commentors are saying, I think you kept this challenge quite real to people and that was the attraction here. But being quite a simple picture you may have been underrated.

Summary:
Well done, keep up the great work.

If you've got any questions about this critique, please feel free to contact me via the PM system.

Cheers

Kari

This is nice. I love your DOF. Just enough to place focus on both hands, but not too much to make them disappear and not a part of the shot. Sepia tones work well here. Bumping this one up

Great "candid" pose. I like the DOF in this shot and the sepia works. 7

The imagery has potential... the fact that the foreground hand is so out of focus allows the image to lose most of it's impact.
