I thought this was an ok picture, what I found annoying were the elements that did not play into what you were capturing. There are so many different patterns here that it made things a little confused, e.g.g the lower left had yellow brick, the grass ... and the reflection on top of what I think was your focus the linear green object. I think if it had been cropped to one or two elements it might have feared better .. i know it would have helped with my score.

I gave you a 5 on this one. I liked it, and thought it was neat that it took a second to get the full picture.. I didn't realize it was a roof right away. I just saw the pattern. The things that took away were the grass in the background and the bricks, both of which are slightly blurred. Maybe if you had cropped those out, it would have scored higher in the Pattern challenge.. I'm not sure. I like the idea, though.. the snow adds interest, it's just a little too bright. Don't be discouraged! Have fun. :)

Wow, I can't believe this scored so low! It's very creative, love the reflection of the clouds and definetly fits the challenge. That low of a score and only 2 comments. Seems to work that way for me too!

Don't beat yourself up- just read your thread lol. It's what YOU think of your work that trully matters.

Here's my take:
The pattern itself is very bold and effective. What hurts your shot in my opinion is (1) the blown highlights (ie the lack of any detail in all of the white areas) and (2) insufficient depth-of-field. A third nitpick that I find distracting is the background... the dull brown grasses at top and top-right don't add to the picture at all IMO and are distracting.
I do like the composition a lot, and I like the color contrast of the green louvers and the yellow bricks. The snow also adds interest and context, but it needs to be exposed properly. Don't be discouraged.... this is supposed to be fun, you know! :)

Stunning, and another simple and very effective composition. Why do I never see these pictures when I have my camera? Sigh
