My final lap of the DPC circuit? Possibly. Certainly time for a 'pit stop' : )

As a parting shot here's the most obvious interpretation of the challenge possible. No imagination or effort required.

Gave it an 8 - I like the room for text at the bottom. You could sell this image to one of those magazines. You broke the cardinal rule of shooting just to shoot and not for fun? Um...you broke the cardinal rule of placing the horizon (edge of the tar) in the middle of the shot? Who cares which rule.

If this is your final lap, it won't be without some of us wishing it wasn't. Too bad dpc is losing the best members lately.

Guess which 'golden rule' I broke with this one : )
Thanks for the comments, but here's my take on it:

This is actually quite a generous crop as far as motorsport photography goes - you should see the shots I didn't dare enter!

Motorsort fans generally want to see the car and driver in as much detail as possible and very little else (unless there's a pit babe hanging around).

The idea of a panning shot is to give the impression that the frame is moving with the car - so there's no need to leave space in the frame for the car to move into.

very nice shot.

If you gave this one a little more room out in front of the car, 10. Settle for 9?

Beautiful colors, beautiful focus. I can truly feel the speed of this one.

The car is trapped within the frame. More impact would be achieved if the car had space to move into.

Excellent capture! Meets challenge perfectly. I just wish that the subject wasn't centered. Would have wanted a little more "space" in front of the car. I still like this photo very much. 7 =-)

Well panned - good choice of shutter speed to keep the wheels blurred

This is a nice shot, but I think it would have been more effective with a less-tight crop and more space in front of the car.

A bit to tight on cropping to me.

Oh yay, car racing is where the speed is at. The colors & clarity in this photo are really great. I know it's difficult to freeze very fast cars, but you did an excellent job. (9)
