From even an ant's view I think the closest object would be the most in focus and not something further away.. .

doesn't look like a naturally taken photo

Great shallow DOF, hard to see the ant.....................

Although this perfectly meets the challenge - great DOF, nice, crisp colors - the focal point is a bit bland.

Good attempt. IMO you appear to have achieved the shallow dof. Maybe a little larger focal area would have worked better.

Excellent shallow DOF, not a whole lot going on in the picture, though.

Much better with an ant.

5 - Like it. Criticism; wish it were 640, in this case height. Colors are nice, dependending what is there, more inclusion of context (especially of whatever that maroon colored object is) and possibly even more width, may have made this even better in my opinion. Difficult, but also a little sharper on the in focus blades of grass would also have been good.

There is such a thing as too little Depth of Field. This is one such case.

blah....sorry...just too uh...unappealling. Had the focused area been the bottom and it was a progression...

I'd like it no...

Very nice narrow DOF but there's no subject really -- you create a focal point with the focus, which is better than none at all, but still, this would be a far better image if there were something of interest as the focal point rather than being a photo of whichever grass blades wound up in the area of focus. (I say this with kindness and appreciation because I totally take this kind of picture all the time.)

I like the colours here. Only thing I reckon is that it needs more of an interesting focal point to score well. IMHO good luck though!
