 Taking a morning walk, I found a group of ducks trying to work their way into a small "hole in the ice" in a frozen pond.

When I stopped to consider taking a photo, several of the birds began to take flight. I caught these two just as after they cleared the ice.

I like this shot, but it doesn't seem to have a very shallow DOF.

Incredible capture...but it doesn't seem to highlight how the DOF brings out your subjects. the duck on the right is in focus tip-to-tip. (I'd imagine it will score lower than it would in another challenge.)
