I expected an even higher placing on this one. 14th out of 344 isn't too shabby though. Congratulations!

I love the detail of this including the seeds in her mouth. I think it would really do you well to adjust curves and entrich the coloration of the entire shot. Just a thought.

Good luck! 7

Great colours but sharp areas look a bit questionable, the sharpness of the feathers doesn't seem to agree with the areas of similar distance in the twigs/legs area. Where was the viewpoint?

Beautiful shot and a delightful composition, he/she really seems to be looking at the viewer. Composition is great and the shallow DoF is entirely appropriate.

7 - Very nice. Colors seem very 'true' so well done. Criticism; having said that, perhaps if the colors were 'tweaked' just a fraction to get them a little bolder, more contrast (difficult likely to not distort), may have made this even better in my opinion. The tail of course, but you know that. Nice capture. Perhaps a fraction sharper on the eyes too, but difficult. Up to 7 from 6.

Pity about the tip of her tail! Like your courage to show the female who is less colorful but she's really beautiful, well done..

A very nice shot of this girl. Nicely composed although the loss of the tail tip is a bit disappointing. IMHO, I think this shot is more about blurred background rather than a creative use of Shallow DOF. JMO

Well done. keeping the whole tail would have been better. Still a well done shot. Nice and sharp and colors look good.

A top pick for me. What a fantastic shot. I don't freely give 10's but this is one for sure in my eyes. Good luck!

Very nice! Just missed the tail of the bird, but very nice shot. When you get a chance, PM me with what kind of lense you use for your bird shots. I want to start doing some bird photos, but I don't have the right lense for it. Thanks and nice shot!
