The #1 Audi R8 entering T5 around sunset, JJ Lehto driving. The Champion Audis are great to shoot as it gets dark because of the reflective decals. I've shot sports car racing for 6-7 years, but this is the first year with a real camera. The shots from this year are definitely the best I have gotten thus far, but MUCH still to be learned!

I am very much a beginner w/ Photoshop as well.

NICE! I love seeing the glow from the brakes. Your timing is impecable as the car had to have been slowing rapidly for the brakes to have so much energy pass through them. The feeling of speed and power is definitely there.

Nice capture. I love Le Mans prototypes. I should go to Le Mans again, but last time I suffered from terrible hayfever and got terribly sick at the track. Also when you look on your clock at 4.00 in the morning you think: "Sheesh, they are only halfway". :) We broke into a foodshop's tent to sleep on the tables for a couple of hours and got kicked out again at 6.00. :)
Best time is when the sun comes up, the people are asleep, being sick or silently thinking what the hell happened the night before. Only the raw sound of the engines reverbing around the track, a special time. Soon after that the buzz begins again, the funfair starts up and the speaker starts blasting trough the mike and Le Mans is awake.

dwterry - yes, the brakes really do that. These cars run carbon fiber discs and carbon pads and the brakes get well over 1000 degrees F during hard braking.

Sadly, this car (Audi R8) has now been retired and the new one (R10) while very cool has brake vents that actually hide the glowing from the viewer as the car goes by. It is a faster car, but not quite as exciting.

The brakes really do that?!? AWESOME! Without a capture like this one would never know. Love the panning/motion capture. Very well done.

Fantastic panning and I love the capture of the hot brake discs. Brilliant shot.
