 Please feel free to express what you think is going on in the picture. I have gotten several different interpretations I had look before I submitted. The title essentially means more than one thing, looks can be deceiving as well as what is obvious deception, what do YOU think is going on?

Thanks to my wonderful wife for the patience in this one. We took MANY shots that night but this one just had the right emotion to it. It was a task getting the inscription to show. We finally put the back end on a earring backing to tilt it slightly. My only change might be to take the bright reflection off of the front of the ring, but some said it drew your eyes into the ring and the inscription. I wasn't sure either way what I could or couldnt do in "basic editing" so thought for sure any kind of burn or such would be a no no.
Some brightness adjustments and neat image and thats it.

** Greetings from the Critique Club **

My first take on this was of a man who had just commited adultery. But then why would his ring be on the dresser and not hidden away in his pocket? Then I thought perhaps the deception was that the wife who had "everything" engraved inside his wedding band was now realizing it was over as he was dressing to leave her. Can be taken several ways.
No matter how it is taken - the image is powerful and emotes a ,.lot of feeelings. I like that in a photo. The mystery of which meaning it has makes it even better.
Excellent DOF and composition. The blown highlights on the wedding band are the only negative here. Keep up the good shooting and creative thinking.

Thanks for all the helpful and gracious comments! This was my second entry, so I am more than happy with finishing in the top 1/3! I learn a little more every challenge, hopefully next one will be even better.

Great idea for a powerful image. It suffers a bit from the large saturated highlight on the ring and the sharpening artifact along the edge of the table

Funny and sad at the same time... Kinda gives the impression of two pictures, but I can tell it isnt :)
