Hand-held shot taken at 4am, feel stupid doing it! While trying to take a perspective image leading to the table and stools, someone popped-out and shocked me (its 4am in the darn morning!) but I chosed this shot to the rest since the moving person in it sort of give it life. My attempt at "darker" images and this one seem to look better with a high-key editing with a grainy dirty look.

- rotate/flip
- resize
- crop
- adjust brightness, contrast, gamma
- grayscale convert
- sharpen

Like it a lot. I haven't read other's comments. I think is very good photo. As you say, the man walking makes this shot even better. The grainy effect is superb. About the composition, I like it, but there's too much dark space arouned IMHO.
9 from me (oops, we are not in voting period...LOL).

This rocks! You were right to choose the image with the person in it. The person makes this shot. I took a similar shot last year. I was trying to photograph a tunnel, when suddenly a guy walking his dogs entered into the frame. It turned out to be the best photo of the whole series. Like you said, having a person in the frame gives the photo life.

i like this. looks like you got lucky with the person walking into your picture. this wouldnt be as strong i think without the moving figure. gave it a 7 during voting.

You know, it seems most of the people asking for my comments in this challenge have shots I liked. I gave this a 7. It looks like you had a nice score though, 5.88 is great.

I thought the composition was good. I like the motion blur of the individual. I wondered if you could have blown out the white at the top of the box less, but that is a very minor beef.

Good stuff altogether.

I'm always a sucker for this composition (usually tunnel with person about to cross exit). Grain is effective. Good choice of shutter speed. Table and chairs really make this shot interesting.

Creepy and mysterious. The "soot and whitewash" treatment is great, the grain/noise just enough and the movement of the stooping person makes the viewer ask questions. Bumping up to a 9.

A sense of minimalism prevails in this dark photo. I feel you have captured a moment that can only be decribed as hollow. This picture brings to mind an excellent black and white talkie from the country of Latvia called Fallen.

The use of B&W is well done, as is the long exposure and blurred motion. The image conveys the thought very well.

great idea, but a bit too centered. would have been more dynamic with a bit cropped off the left. excellent capture. i can relate both to the shooter and the situation.

A litle confusing and composition was centered but not well justified.
