Oh for cryin' out loud - the photo sucks and I just noticed the score matches the aperture setting!

I knew it sucked when I entered it and was hoping to have time to replace it, but didn't. Thanks for all who commented. It was interesting to note that some said "get rid of the red/green spot" and one said "I like the spot" - fact is I was trying to milk anything I could out of this and hoped viewers would think the spot was like the enemy camp or something. LOL

The "Candle Holders" are actually shells from a 20mm Phalanx Close-In Weapon System used on a Navy Destroyer to shoot incoming missiles as a last line of defense. Bet ya think more highly of the photo now that ya know all that huh? Yeah, probably not. :(

Live and learn.

Love the sound of those 20mm's.

Just read your photographers comments. You never fail to make me laugh. I love your sense of humor. As for the picture... well, knowing the candle holders are shells gives it a wee bit more impact, maybe. And the spot could be an enemy camp, if you have a really activie imagination...

the red and green thing in the background is quite distracting - this could have been cloned out. The blow out around the flame is also quite harsh. I am curious as to why there are 2 candle holders but only one candle.

Very original image. Hits close to home since I'm military also. I would normally say the flame is too bright but it really works here, too bad the rules didn't allow you to clone out that reflection on the right. good luck

I like the little flare on the right, it helps balance the subject. The flame and highlights on the shell casings are somewhat blown-out, maybe exposure bracketing would be helpful. I like the subtle star effect.

beautiful subject, clearness in general is good, what misses is the clearness of the flame and an adequate opening

Too overbearing for me.

Nice theme! I love the star effect around the flame. Given advanced edit I would have cloned out the red and green spot on the right side.
