lol Dont feel bad,
On my first challenge I also scored very low.
I have scored low on others as well.
You will improve as time goes on.
This is the place you will learn a lot.

Thanks for all the comments; as you can see, I marked all of them as being helpful, cos there's room for improvement. It was, after all, the first challenge I participated in. Constructive criticism leads to improvement

Looks like it came from one of those photo machines. Distorted and overexposed. Very unflattering, no smiles here.

Way too over exposed. I have no clue what is sticking out of her ear, or what this has to do with cheese. Unless that's cheese sticking out of her ear, but I can't tell because it's way over exposed. :(

You've got a good idea here, but it is just a touch over-exposed. Try bracketing your frames. And have fun!

Say Cheese!: The old photographer's cliché is now a challenge topic. Use cheese as the subject of your photo to make your audience smile.

I hate to be playing English teacher here or come off as a DNMC critic, especially that English is NOT my native language but dissecting the description makes it pretty clear:
USE CHEESE as the SUBJECT of your photo to make YOUR AUDIENCE SMILE.

Based on the capitalized letters I had the following expectations in this challenge:
1. There would be cheese (even if implied) in the photo (Cheddar, Swiss, Gouda...etc). This cheese would be the SUBJECT of the photo. (Subject - Synonyms: matter, topic, theme. These nouns denote the principal idea or point of a speech, a piece of writing, or an artistic work.)

2. This is open to discussion but by Audience I would assume either the voters, or, someone in the photo looking at cheese

3. the photo would be somewhat funny as to make me smile.

After reviewing your photo, I feel it does not meet the challenge either because there is no cheese in the photo or because it's not funny. Or both.

This photo is also WAAAAAAAAY overexposed.

The face being so bright from the flash distracted from the piece of cheese.

Way to over exposed everything blends together too much so all definition and detail is lost. Try working from more of a distance from the subject or cover the flash with a bit of white tissue paper to tone it down a bit

Where's the cheese? What's with the over-over-dose of flash? Why'd you submit this very "blog" photo?

Whoa... waaaaaaaaay too blown out. I don't mind intentionally high key shots, but this is just plain blown out with the Flash From Hell.

Alas, too over exposed and soft for my taste. I do feel the overexposure could be effective, but here it is overdone.

A bit too washed out for me, I'm afraid. The near focus idea is good, though.

You were supposed to use cheese as the subject.

This photo is just way too overblown for my taste and the focus looks soft on the eyes. I'm trying to see where the cheese relation is with the title and all I can see is something sticking out of her mouth?

Horribly overexposed.

one would have needed for this photograph more contrast, a better exposure and can be not direct flash directed in the figure.

I only rate this 1 because it is in my opinion Over exposured.
