Yes, this fork has appeared in a challenge before. This time I took it downtown to the Covarrubias Adobe. It's lying in the trunk of a pepper tree that dates from Presidio days.

A 5.5 is certainly not a bad score. I liked this shot and gave it a 6. The composition is nice and the subject is interesting. Perhaps the upper right is a bit bright and distracting, but not bad in my opinion. I worked just a bit in PS to see what I could do and found that it was a little low on contrast. If you up the contrast by +20, I think it looks better. You do have to do it as an adjustment layer and then remove the contrast from the upper right because you blow that section out even more with this setting.

I guess the only knock is ultimately the subject. It does hold some interest, but we grasp it quickly and move on. The winners used forks and spoons in interesting ways to create patters that were "more" than just the utensil themselves. This lacks that and was probably its ultimate limiting factor.

Would have scored this higher but there's such a strange line between the edge of the tree trunk and the background - some strange processing I think - that it's drawing my attention away from the fork and the lovely texture of the bark.

cool fork. would have liked to see it with a less textured and more contrasting back drop

The tree is taking too much attention from the fork.
