Epiphyllum hybrid (see below).
pp; cropped, cloned out two small 'marks'.
80% sure this is an Epiphyllum hybrid, common name is Orchid Cactus (however, it may also be a Phyllocactus, Nopalxochia, Disocactus, etc). Positive identification is welcomed. This is a difficult flower to correctly identify 100% due to the classifications and myriad of hybrid cultivars, etc. The particular cultivar/variety/hybrid I am unsure of but narrowed it down to: Circus, Circus OR Pink Parasol OR Cinco de Mayo OR American Sweetheart
Family: Cactaceae (kak-TAY-see-ee) Genus: Epiphyllum (ep-ih-FYE-lum)
"'Epiphyllum hybrids' are usually various crosses between Disocactus and Epiphyllum." .... "Epiphyllum. The name Epiphyllum is formed from the Greek word "epi" meaning upon, and "phyllon" a leaf, referring to the flowers born on leaf like stems.... Flowers are mostly nocturnal, and glabrous. Some members of other genera such as Schlumbergera used to be included in the genus Epiphyllum."

The title was an 'accident', I was looking for something with a prefix of 'octa' (due to the 8 'swirling' stigma 'lobes') and after typing it into Dictionary.com it listed Octane - I liked the sound of it but it does mean "Any of various isomeric paraffin hydrocarbons with the formula C8H18, found in petroleum and used as a fuel and solvent." but also "An octane number." Given the color, I thought perhaps it was befitting after all.
Thank you to those who commented/voted it high'ish'. |

Very delicate and beautiful, but too dark. A high key treatment would suit this well. The color cast is complementary. |

I think this could have used a little more contrast boost to gain more range in values |
