Don't know how this would have faired doing it with the mini blinds at my mom's, but when I held the vase up to the blinds at my place I was very surprised to see the great patterns that were there. I placed the vase on a top of a black speaker in front of the blinds and shot with the timer set and camera tripod mounted in macro mode. Shot in ambient light with the white balance set on tungsten and using the Chrome setting on the camera to hopefully get richer colors. Shot three sessions of the image in various compositions and I liked this angled one from the last session.

Post. Open. Rotate, Crop. Layer adjustments for levels, brightness/contrast and hue/saturation. USM. Cloned some aberations in the glass out in a couple of the darker areas and a small bit in the middle of the front center of the vase. Resize. USM.

Great texture. Likely to be under-appreciated in this competition.
