I love this, it makes me ache for home in ways I can't really explain. Pulls me in and leaves me wistfully soaring with the birds, excellent job.
Edit to add: Not that I am from your part of the world, but that I grew up living on water and spent years of time sitting at the end of a dock like this one writing and swimming and drawing...

Nice shot and very peaceful. I really like how the birds are blurry showing motion. Great job. |

I like this one very much, very good composition and the gray tones are very good - you can feel the force of nature, heaven and earth |

A beautiful shot..not a DPC jump out at you kind, but a look and linger shot. Nice work. |

Awesome! Not always the rules of thirds is the best the choice, and this is an example! I can imagine this on a calendar, it would be great! :) |

Beautifully done. The score shows me this is seriously underappreciated... |

I didn't know this was your image...the image is strong..I like the line of the dock leading your eye directly into the middle of the image, also the b&w gives it a simplicity of message. You were wise also to use a slow shutter speed to allow the gulls to suggest flying birds; perhaps they are the spirits. |

Well, I still don't like the border too much but I completely disagree with the rule of thirds idea. The power of the composition lies in its current placement. Should have score higher... |

Rather calming shot. With the bright light in the background, I'm surprised the shutter was opened long enough for any motion blur. |

Great black n white study. I love the use of tones. The border really sets it off. Nice. |

I like the shot, but the border is so big that it's distracting. |

I suspect maay won't like it, but I always find that this depth of border adds a certain sophistication to a shot. There is some capture of mood here, and ths lishgtly unorthodix composition is well done, and effective. |

This is a nice capture but the compostion with the walk way ending in the middle throws me off. I think hitting the walkway at the end of one of the rule of third spots would have made this shot even better. (7) |

Very nice. Composition is good. Pier leads you into the shot. Black and White works, but I would love to see this in color to compare. Good Luck |

The sky is too much burnt out to white and if it wasn't this photo would be great. It's not bad, but this burnt out sky is dragging the photo down. Maybe you should have pointed your camera more down, so the horizon line wouldn't be cutting the photo in half as it is. I like how the pier is placed in it and the birds are adding very much. I like the big white frame, no matter what others may say about it. |

I love the boarder and the vertical orientation of the photo. The slight movement in the birds helps the stillness caputred in dock and freezing the motion of the water. I also like the selection of black and white. Great photo. Keep it up! |

One of my favorite shots of this challenge. Love the composition and DOF. Only thing that stands out to me as a negative is the bird on the left. Wish it was in focus just a little bit more. |

Nice perspective, maybe a faster shutter speed to freeze the birds in flight. |

Very good and an excellent use of B&W - which is often over-used in DPC |
