Greetings from the Critique Club
Hi again, Stephan! Always one of my fave photographers to comment on!
Composition
I think that you nailed it in your own comments - it could have used a main center of interest to tie the photo all together. It could have been one of a lot of things, but kid with kite would have worked better.
Color
I adore your sky - the shift in blues is amazing. The higher in the sky, the better the colors. Unfortunately, the ground is one big silhouette.
Lighting
The lighting sets the sky like this, which is the best part of the picture, IMHO.
Subject matter
Needs one.
Overall
I think you know DPC well enough to understand what you said in your comments was your ultimate downfall. We see the air around us, and it meets the challenge, but it just doesn't have that "oooooh" or "wow" to it.

Excellent - lovely composition and idea really gets across the idea of 'Breathing Space'. |

Great idea and framing, but I'd like to see more color and focus on the ground (even though you may have done this on purpose). |

this would be a superb shot if the breeze didn't blur the wheat heads. Great exposure on the sky, and great silhouette. |

I haven't really commented much in this competition... alot of the stuff looks the same. But this one really caught my eye. At first I was going to tell you that it would be more effective if it were sharper at the bottom. But I decided that it's great the way it is. It looks like a painting to me. And I feel as though I'm lying on my back in the grass, looking up at the sky. I love the moon (barely visible). The entire shot comes across as feeling dreamy, and reminds me of my childhood. Great job, and good luck this week. |

this is a fabulous shot... the sky is so vibrant... and the tips of the ruffage is fantastic! The white in the sky looks like someone painted it... i love it! |

Could have been improved with a bit of flash on the foreground. Nice feeling of space, but the sky is a little noisy. [Is that the moon?] |

I really like this. It is so simple and paintly. It's different to all the other photos too because it got so much space and that is what the country means to me. |

Nice idea! Only problem is, the wheat is blurry and I would have liked to see more detail. 5 Good luck in the challenge. |

Simply incredible sky colors. This photo definitely evokes emotion. It does seem to be missing something...a flower perhaps? Maybe if the weeds weren't so dark, I don't know. Nice shot of a blue sky, though. Hats off to you on that. |
