 This is a dragonfly. It is approximately 2-3 inches. I found them flying around at a pond by my house. They are not easy to photograph. Basically I found some branches near the side of the pond and waited for any to land on them. Most of the time they turned with their back to the camera. It was a very sunny day which made it more difficult. I would have liked this a touch sharper, but they are quite hard to get a good focus on, and I needed a short DOF to blur the water which wasn't so clear.

Great macro - but it comes across as grey and not blue on my monitor (probably my fault). Says dragonfly to me though rather than bug (but its a small quibble)

Very good photo with great DOF. Shows detail, however there really isn't much contrast between him and the background.

He just watched The Karate Kid and went one further - he's balancing on his front legs. Great catch.
