Downtown Disney
I made this into a black and white for two reasons.
First, the drawings were in pencil, so therefore they were black and white.
Second, in trying to subdue the back ground, black and white wins out.
while shooting candids of people in Downtown Disney, after about an hour of shooting, Disney Security wanted to make sure that I wasn't a terrorist, or industrial spy, or something.
shot in raw, did some pre editing in raw before converting to jpeg.
Basic PS CS2 stuff= crop with 8x10 cropping tool, levels, curves, saturation, color channel in monochrome putting rgb into there own levels to adjust midtones, high pass, adjust opacity to 15%, reduce. |

Greetings from the critique club:
Now, this is not fair. I am a fan of this image. It was an image that I liked because the subject is very appealing and the capture shows off the b/w media. Everything about this image is pleasing. The background descends into darkness to bring out the foreground, The shadows play well on the ground.
We are now left with a heart warming smile adorned with little bows. The vendor's attire gives the image authenticity and the lighting plays well with those nice little highlights tracing the hat and the vest.
No, my friend. I repeat, this is an image that should have scored much higher and there is nothing I can say to improve it, except to change it, and I like it just as is.
Your images "Lost not Found" , "Dead End" and "Naturally Framed" are in the same class as this one. A very consistent output. Stick to current quality and all will be well. |

Cool b/w with a nice lick and smile to the audience. Congratulations on your top 20 finish. I expected this to have finihed much higher.

Interesting shot, and good motion capture, wondering what it looks like in color. |

Nice collection. I like that the shot includes a person, is not staged, and the contrast between that huge face and the guy pushing the cart is really striking. I also like the choice to use black and white and the shadow. |
