 I picked this dry stalk of lupine out of the snow and set it up in my livingroom with a piece of red card for a backdrop. The main components of the subject are the opened seed pods covered with a whiteish fuzz. Lighting is mainly from below & behind the subject, with pieces of white card placed close around & directly above to brighten the shadows.

Elegant image, the deep reds and your framing remind me of Chinese art, but I'm not sure what makes it odd.
