 This shot was NOT easy, so I hope it does well :)

It took nearly an hour of shooting, in the dark, with a hot 40-watt bulb next to my face. Just getting my whole face in the frame was hard enough. Then getting the lighting and the focus just right... I'm still not fully pleased with the result, but it will have to do!

Very little post-processing-- minor levels adjustment and 10% desaturation, Gaussian blur, resize, unsharp mask, 3x2 crop

Well, there were some generous voters in the last two hours! Last I checked it was a 5.9, now it's a 6.1! As you can tell, I'm thrilled!

Last week top 30-- this week top 20! Maybe someday I'll find myself in the top 10... :)

Perhaps the most visually interesting image in this challenge. I know, many folks rule out too dark but how else can such a dramatic effect be attained. 9

Wow... when I first looked at it, I thought it was a rope that was busy snapping in the middle... :) (Dont ask.. very vivid imagination) I like this shot, well done.

Really nice. I love how his profile is cropped diagonally on this image. Great use of light and dark. Quite stunning with his beard and mustache stubble adding some texture which mimics his brows. Artfully done!!! 9

Love the diagonal composition and the light. I had similar idea (image 258266 in my portfolio) but this one works much better. You've added drama and mood with the lighting. Good luck!
