I like the darkness and use of color, but would prefer to see just a hint of an eye (or two)

Dramatic expression, sharp macro, good angle of view, great lighting and color.
One of my favs.

I'd have liked to see some light on your eyes.

Quite ugly, but worth good points

Wow, great lighting. Ominous feeling!

Your nose is the essence of yourself? You must have really bad hayfever or something. Seriously, though, nice study of form but a little too tight a crop I think. Also a very unflattering light angle. Totally obscuring your eyes which greatly dehumanises the shot. 6 - floyd.

One of the more unusual entries - I like the viewpoint, the close crop and the abstract nature. Don't like blue choice. 8

I've tried to drop this from 7 to 6 three times and can't do it. the thumbnail looks awful, but the pic is really quite nice. shows lots of character (what you really need are some good ol' scars - kidding). it will remain a 7 (which is in my top 10)

I like the idea here.. but.. it's hard to make a good portrait when the viewers eyes are drawn to looking up your nostrils. Perhaps a different angle would have been preferable for this. The shadowing and the blue tone are good ideas but that nose kinda throws this shot off for me.

I love the lighting and the angle. This is a small detail, but I really like how your eyelashes look against your skin. very cool. you're not Rob Zombie's long lost twin brother are you? lol

Wow. This is freakishly close! I keep trying to see your eyes but I like the mystery. Also I think the large dpo works great here. Awesome job!

Interesting perspective. I like the blue tone to the photograph. Honestly, I would have liked to see your whole face in this light. I like it

I appreciate the artistic endeavor but, in a portrait entitled "Essense of Self", I would have prefered to see at least a little of your eye. The way you have the lighting, your nose is what stands out more than anything and, sorry, but I just dont' see that as illustrating the essense of you. Interesting shot though.

should just have lit a bit more your eyes...
06/18/2003 05:48:29 AM
This light make u look like 1 hairy dude! lol,
if there was a bit catch light in the eyes that'll be better i guess
