Not as easy as it looks! I must have taken over 100 shots, playing with different lighting and poses. Used two 500 watt halogen lamps (man, are they ever hot to pose under!), a 75 watt light, and the soft setting on the camera. Rotated, cropped, and adjusted levels, brightness and contrast in Photoshop. No sharpening. I hope this does well during voting. This is one of the most flattering photos ever taken of me, and it is comparable to one taken of me by a professional wedding photographer in the early 80s.

Very nice shot, but the wrinkles in the backdrop show a little to clearly... I think a shallow dof, blurring out the backdrop, would have added alot to this shot.

A beautiful, classic portrait.

This is a pretty good portrait in terms of the subject. The background is too wrinkly which is easily solved... move away from it so it isn't immediately behind you. The shadow at the bottom is pretty distracting too.

An overall very nicely taken classic style of self portrait. The wrinkle in the sheet and the different shadings of greys in it near the bottom, seem to detract from the photo though as they take my attention away from you.

a lovely image of a lovely lovely woman. Who is lucky to have her gracing their world????

Comments: you look uncomfortable in this pic, which is a minus. Wistful would work, or happy, better. Would like the rose to be more prominent -- looks like it's an afterthought in this pic. Like the backdrop very much (looks like steps or something), as well as the lighting. The composition also works, because of where your gaze is directed.

I'm no expert, but I personally would have liked a little more light on you. The backdrop seems brighter than the subject. I like that you are a tad off-center in the framing.

I think a portrait should reveal some character of the model. Did your picture accomplish that? Yes! Good job.

I don't know where you come from, but this picture somehow makes you look extremely American.. Very odd. Anyway, not a bad portrait, but the lighting is a bit erratic and the focus / sharpness could do with some improbement. You have quite a noticable face - perhaps for the next session of portraits zoom in a lot closer and get some eye contact with the camera? (6)
