Great retro feel -- the border really adds to this image, because the dimensions make it feel like it's straight out of the 50s!

I wish you had chosen a less cluttered background. as it is, it looks like the trees in the back are growing out of your head! LOL

Not a bad idea, but if you want to do this, I would recommend using a larger aperture the throw the background out of focus. (4)
