Howzat guys,
Thanks for all the comments!
Truth be told, I only had the 18-55mm lens, so I had to get really really close to the action.
My first few attempts left everything full of oil (luckily I have a UV filter), and I also burnt my head quite a bit!
:)
After a few rounds, It was just too dark, so I moved the elctric pan outside into the sun, and shot it there. This time round, however, I used a plastic bag around my camera, leaving only the UV filter exposed.
Still, couldn't use a tripod as I had to get very close, and I also had a lot of burning oil all over my face which wasn't particularly pleasant.
I wanted to submit this one, But the popcorn wasnt completely in focus, unfortunately.
Popcorn2
I agree with the comments that it wasnt the best crop, and it was a bit of a pity that the one that did pop, was out of frame, but after being covered in oil, and having a brand new 350D that smelt like a fish and chips shop - I had to throw in the towel.
:)

wow, it was brave of you to put your camera so close to spattering oil...
I'd have liked to see somewhat better definition of the shadows and less flatness in the highlights. |

Good idea but too tight! You freeze the splatter but the corn is out of frame. Pity. |

7 - Good effort, good shot for the Challenge. Criticism; camera/lens dependent, more focus. Different crop may have also made this better in my opinion. Good idea. |
