Admittedly, I was more then a little intrigued by your title as it relates to grief for your father. Your picture evokes quite a bit of emotion pain and sorrow still. The gesture of your hands placed over your nose and mouth implies an effort to stop or hide. Its ok, our father's have always played such an important part in our lives, and they will continue to do so long after their pasting.
I find that one of the most genuine and fascinating aspects of photography to be that a single picture (i.e. glimpse of a moment in time) has the ability to evoke such emotion, be it joy or sorrow, and that is truly exceptional. I believe that as we capture these moments we measure their success based on many factors of these the most powerful are splendor & emotion. That sir you have achieved with your self-portrait revisited.
Thank you for sharing a glimpse of your travels in this journey called life.
Best regards,
C.J.Gilreath

Great lighting and contrast. Only small complaint, is that because of the brightness on the right side, the shoulders lack symmetry as it blends in with the white background. |

Nice use of light, if a bit over-exposed on that side. |

This image is very interesting to look at. It leaves me wondering which half of you is most like you.. maybe you see yourself as having a cynical side?
I like the grain in this image. It adds to the mood. |

Hey,
Interesting B/W shot. I think that the contrast on this one is a too high, but it seems like that is what you were trying to do. A lot of the image is lost in this one, and parts like your shoulder are washed out. |

I think a portrait should reveal some character, or emotion of the model, by showing expression in eyes or other facial features. Did your picture accomplish that? yes!
artistic/creativity? yes
Technical?fine
Overall? Good job! |

In the thumbnail this is outstanding because of the contrast. It is a thumb up for the lighitng. Just it is less sharp in large that makes the image flat. |
