(Critique Club)
Hey there! A fabulous closeup shot indeed. So much, in fact, that it is
very difficult to give you any good critique, but here goes nothing..
Composition: I really like what you did here. Your right-focusedness combined with the blurry background are beautiful. If anything, I would try to use a more even surface (black sheet of paper or similar)
Technique: Technically a difficult, but well done shot. I would have a look at the way you compress your pictures, though - this picture is 128 kb, and you can tell there are JPEG artifacts in the blurry part in the background. Why not attempt to use some more of the allocated 150 kb and get rid of the artifacts? Great work, though.
Creativity: What can I say? Great!
Made me think: Not really. The picture has very little emotional value to me, and raises few questions.
What could be done to rank higher: The picture is certainly aestetically pleasing, but doesn't make anybody think. While being a good picture technically, it seems to lack the human touch that would nudge it from being a good work of photography to a great work of art.
Cheers,
Haje Jan Kamps
