This was my first time shooting in RAW. Somewhat of a nightmare, but I hope it'll be smoother next time.

A photo that I plan to put in an ongoing gallery series, this was the 3rd photo I've taken for the project.

This is also my first DPChallenge photo.

OK it's strange but the nature of delicate is a clear message here. Dare to be different, I like that.
11/01/2005 07:22:16 AM
Good photo, irrelevant to the word delicate though.
10/30/2005 08:00:18 AM
Interesting concept. Raw. 10 for originality.
10/29/2005 05:00:34 PM
can you say forced art? or how about the idea "many words, little meaning"? Strictly image speaking, if the background was better the image would be more forceful....
10/29/2005 09:08:12 AM
This is so wierd. I don't get a feeling of delicacy from this picture. To me it is angry, militant, daring. And I think that the eyes may have revealed this.
10/28/2005 09:18:03 PM
This is very disturbing
10/28/2005 09:09:13 PM
Awsome!!! I think many people will have trouble see how this fits the challenge. I think I can string it together. I love it.
10/28/2005 08:20:33 PM
I don't understand...
10/28/2005 04:22:35 PM
I love evocative shots like this. A remarkable composition. I actually find it quite disturbing! That crop just below her eyes ... in fact the whole way it's cropped, the strange lighting, that dark background and the pose/expression (what we can see of it) just adds to the edgy feel of the image. Excellent!
10/28/2005 09:14:43 AM
Is it delicate?
10/27/2005 06:07:52 PM
wow! this is awesome....very real and meaninful. great job. 10!
10/27/2005 03:58:57 PM
deep, Scars add to the words. Very emotive.
10/27/2005 12:35:55 PM
One stange image. Lighting seems OK with this one. If making a person think is the only criteria of a great photograph than this one accomplishes that. Can't help thinking the scars in the center just below the text are wounds from surgery or some other form of injury or perhaps even self inflicted. Purposely keeping the eyes out of the image with the mouth and neck taped shut is very interesting photographically speaking. The message written on the subject's chest, however, is very obscure. This will be a controversial image that will evoke a lot of different responses. Expect scores to be all over the place.

Good idea! I have a TFT monitor, I can see the background :(
10/27/2005 06:11:29 AM
hanneke? I think you're going to get torn apart on this unfortunately. Most people are going to interpret "delicate" as a physical thing that can easily be broken or damaged, like glass or a flower. To me, this shows the fragile state of existence that is the female pysche lol. ( I'll catch hell for that later). Interesting picture, good luck.
10/27/2005 01:23:25 AM
This picture is kind of creepy! I kind of see your concept, but the concept in your photo I think is a little unclear. Good Job Though!
10/26/2005 11:09:20 PM
Very awesome and original picture. Very "hardcore." I love it! Even the text is pretty! Good Luck.
10/26/2005 08:55:03 PM
very strong image, most likely too avante garde for this venue.
I am interested in the source of the quote, also the title is intriguing
10/26/2005 07:08:33 PM
I don't understand the "ethnocentricity" in the title. The words seem to be speaking of human relationships and love. and the taped mout speaks more of sexual centricity/sexism and a womans voice being ignored or silenced.
10/26/2005 02:18:31 PM
nice try to be different, lighting (yellow hue) and background showing take away from this. 5
10/26/2005 12:21:47 PM
doesnt look delicate
10/26/2005 09:24:56 AM
This is a very disturbing image to me. I'll be honest, I had no idea what the word "Ethnocentricity" meant so I looked it up. After further review, I really don't understand the definition behind "Ethnocentricity" and the statement on the woman's chest. The only thing that I can come up with viewing this shot and the definition of the word is (and I'm guessing here) a woman socially bound against a relationship that isn't socially acceptable?.?.

Either way about the shot itself, the lighting here suggests a raw and moody element that to me speaks something in the way of a ransom photo. Either way it evokes pure emotion from the viewer be it good or bad it is a powerful statement.

As I stated before this image disturbs me, with that said, I'm not voting down this picture because of the power it creates when one is viewing it. I'm giving you a 7 for a striking, emotive, and demanding shot that captures the viewers attention.
10/26/2005 07:11:13 AM
I think your photo/concept is very creative. Good luck!
10/26/2005 05:03:44 AM
why are there so many pictures of women gagged? I am sure there are many whom will find merit in this picture, and think of it as art, but as a woman with a young daughter and very sensitive to degradation...gag.
10/25/2005 10:43:50 PM
wow
10/25/2005 09:28:02 PM

10/25/2005 08:38:35 PM
