 6 weeks old, this is Peyton. Shot for a client in studio. Sweet sweet baby!

The bg is a large roll of white paper hanging against the wall. Baby is on a platform about 5' from the paper. On the platform is some really lovely soft fuzzy furry white fabric that i got from "the wal-mart" layed over a child-size bean-bag chair. Me and mommy got baby in place with a blanket over him so he wouldn't get cold and wake up. Was hard to get the knees tucked in cause he really wanted to stretch, but we put em there & held em for a minute and he finally relaxed. Then was a matter of pull the blanket and grab the shot. I got several before he pissed everywhere! lol Both of the little boys I shot peed on my stuff! Laundry was busy today.

As for light - the bg is illuminated with a "daylight" spot, one very bright AlienB400 front right with softbox and one B400 slightly above & left for fill.

PS needed to clean the whites a bit, soften the skin and some sharp/contrast/levels. 99% Desat (preserved just a touch of pink)

This is so precious. I wish I could do work like this. I have a 5 week old that I'm anxious to start shooting but I have no lighting equipment. Adding shot to favs.

This is beautiful! And thanks so much for the great description on how you did it. Both my sons and their wives have babies that are due any second now (the first was due yesterday). . .this gives me a great idea . . . hope you don't mind if I try to emulate a shot like this. It's just so amazing. . .a treasure forever.

I think its a brilliant shot. I love the tones (he does seem to have some pink as jenesis mentioned???) The set up and all your hard work n' the laundry.. well worth the capture. I bet his mom is over the moon loving the shots you got. :)

This is really nice. I can't tell, is it B&W or just really muted? The skin seems to have a slight pinkness to it. It's very interesting. :-)

awww cute babie! :) I actually like the negative space above him/her but it looks like the ear and hair could use with a bit more work...look either a bit cut out or maybe they just look that way, easy to fix either way :)nyways baby looks cute and cuddly, bet the parents are really happy with that shot :)
