You have met the challenge by having the subject off center.

The blue cast, though it does add some interest, gives the picture an unnaturally cool look. Though you obviously could not control the lighting, you may have been able to make some adjustments in levels or something to change it, if you desired.

Dark, action shots are a challenge with any camera, not just digital, but I am wondering if using a higher ISO would have helped. I see you have a G2, and I am not certain, but I would suspect that it would allow for ISO adjustment. Perhaps you could do a search by camera and contact some other G2 owners to find out. This shot, well focused, would have had some real impact, I think.

As far as cloning out the microphone -- I don't think it would have helped your score that much, as I don't see it as a totally distracting element. As someone else pointed out, it actually serves as a balancing point almost. And, if you did clone it out, and it was detected, you would be DQ'ed which doesn't help you at all.

If you like the shot, that is what matters, so take whatever I say however you like.

Best to you in future challenges.

Thanx for all of your views, I could not adjust the colour because I was shooting her "free hand" at a concert. The "bit out of focus" is not something I could really control either unless I jumped up on stage and aksed her to stop moving, action shots and digital cameras are hard.Yes that is a mike in the shot, I could have cheated and blacked it out with none of you knowing, but I didn't, now i guess i should have... I love this shot, like I said I am not a pro, and I do not use a studio, I just take pictures, thats all, thats it.
thanx

Definetely a bazaar look to it. I\'m sure that\'s what you were going for, and in that sense it\'s successful. I don't personally find it appealing because the blue color is very cool, even cold. I like to associate warmth with people, and the blue seems to say "Stand back, don't touch me." Just my opinion of course, but I appreciate when people critique my art so I know how it affects others. I hope you'll understand.

Interesting silouette. The blue light is eerie. and not being able to see her iris adds to that. Is that a microphone - top left? Where is she, what is she doing? Wish the image were sharper, and your intent clearer.

Edgy and urban - the blue really made this image a good one.

Freaky. Looks like she has all white eyes. Doesn't really met the challenge however.

Looks like this was a good concert? NIce lighting on the face. The harsh shadows and highlights increase the "in the moment" feel. Too bad she's not quite in focus. Nice composition, too.

You meet the challenge here. I like that you haven't just placed your subject off-center, but added something in the remaining space that balances it and gives it context. Now, I'm assuming you took this at a concert, so you didn't have control over the lighting or the angle, and I know concert photography is hard (at least I pretty much consistently fail to get any decent pix, but that might just be that I'm not good at concert photography :-P ). Anyhow, there are a number of things that don't appeal to me personally: Rachelle does not seem to be quite in focus, the mike seems to be pointing at her forehead rather than her mouth, the bluish light giving her the bluish skin tone and lastly the fact that she is looking away and there's a shadow on her eye so it almost seems like there's no iris. I'm sorry I don't like your photo much, I'm sure part of it is just a matter of taste and others will appreciate the blue tint etc. I hope I pointed out some constructive things to look out for anyhow.

Interesting shot, although I'm not quite sure how to feel about it. I think I might have liked it better if she had been singing at the time.
