I have a pit bull rescue I named "Chance" same basic story, she was six months old and had lived almost her entire life in the pound. They were doing everything they could to get her adopted. She's a big favorite with everyone who meets her and plays very well with other dogs. Be aware that their animal aggression can take a few years to show up and it can come out of the blue. So always supervise same sex play pals and never go to a dog park. Even if a pitbull doesn't start a fight they will finish it. When she plays she shows her natural fighting ability and I have no doubt in my mind she could rip another dog to shreds if she wanted to. So far she just wants to play though. :) |

Thank you very much for my red ribbon.
I nearly have a complete collection now.
Just the brown to go :-)
Everyone always writes something profound and meaningful here after the challenge is over.
So here is my attempt at it.
We (actually my girlfriend Judi) rescued this dog (Rockett is her name) from the SPCA about ten months ago.
She had been there about six weeks and probably didn't have long left.
We were told that she was half pit bull and half pointer and that was probably why nobody wanted her.
But she is so loving and cuddly and sweet.
OK, she may want to kill the squirrels in our garden, but that's about it.
We also have four cats and she hasn't hurt them.
Occasionally she can get defensive towards her food, but so can all animals.
Pit bulls have got a bad name and it isnât justified.
This website is very informative if you are interested.
A quote from their front page:
âDogs considered "pit bulls" carry many stereotypes. Any time one of these dogs does something bad, the media makes sure we all know about it. The public never learns about the thousands of "pit bulls" that are cherished family pets, who are gentle with children and excel in obedience.â
Oh yeah, in the picture I didnât actually say âwalkiesâ, I was promising her a âgreenieâ (a dental dog treat that she loves)
