When I saw this photo during voting I commented about the softness of the focus, and I would again say that the focus is an issue. The baby is right in the center of the photo and it would create a much nicer effect to have the baby off slightly to one side or the other and again try and work eye level with the child and not shooting down.
There is a harshness on the righthand side at the bottom which is definately a lighting issue that can most often be corrected only by the time of day when shooting outside.
My one suggestion that is very easily fixed is for you to try to submit larger photos, even if you have cropped them down enlarge them to closer to the 640 deminision, it does help.
As for meeting the challenge yes it does this little boy is so cute and the colors are so well coordinated with the yellow slide and the yellow within his shortalls. He definately is a cutie. Welcome to DPChallenge and if you need any help just ask, and don't be afraid of the forum, a lot of questions get answered there.
Best of Luck in future challenges and so you know you scored very well for your first challenge.

i like the chubby arms, but the right side seems blown out. Also, its easier for voters to see pictures that are submitted larger. :) |

Very cute, and a cool background. The expression looks a little worried, though. |

its a pity youv'e submitted such a small image a larger one would have shown more detail in the childst expression |

I don't really have any problem picturing a Parents Magazine cover featuring a baby, but generally don't they go with less cranky-looking ones? Why is this image so much smaller than max dimensions; was it a huge crop?
The lighting on this is probably too focussed on the bottom/right.
Aside from the weirdly small crop, the dimensions seem about right for the magazine. They generally go with a neutral background anyhow so it probably wouldn't have mattered much. |

This is cute... I would have liked to have seen it bigger though. There is almost too much light on this photo coming in from the bottom left... and the baby is looking at you like... what are you doing! I'm guessing thats some kind of a slide? I could definitely see a form of this photo as the front cover... it's cute. |

I wish the baby would have been a little more too one side.
This would allow for sub-topics titles. |

This is very soft on the focus an unsharpening mask may have helped. Also when taking baby photos get down on the same level as them don't take the photo looking down at them. The camera was obviously higher than the babies face. |
