Interesting horror shot, but don't think it's complementary |

Love the expression, dont know that it meets the challenge of complementary colors though. |

Balck and white are not complements, in fact they aren't even colors. And besides, this isn't even a photo of a subject that is black and white, it is just a color photo that has been turned into black and white....at least, that is what it looks like. |

Black and white are not complementary colors, IMO. The rest of it, I like. The blown highlights work here. Would have scored high on a halloween-themed challenge. |

Complementary colours are pairs of colours that contrast strongly when compared to each other.
Black and white are neutrals and not colours at all, and therefore they cannot be complementary colours... white shows the presence of light, and black shows the absence of light. Black and white areas next to each other do demonstrate high contrast, but high contrast gives a different visual effect than complementary colours do in a picture.
Check some of the forum discussions on complementary colours for suggestions on using colour for contrast.

Black and white are shades, not colors. Does not fit the challenge. |

Im sure you are receiving a lot of negative comments for submitting a B&W image to a "color" challenge. I support you choice of image and applaud your forward thinking. |

Can't take a 'complement' eh. It's hard for a lot of folks. |

I'm taking a literal interpretation of this challenge, and so since your photo is in black and white and not color, I'm giving it a lower score. Also, I find the large black shadow object on the right side very distracting - although I realize that it the "shadow" you fear. Perhaps if it had a more definitive shape it would help? |

I know this might upset you,. and I mean no offence, but this is a complimentary colours contest, why enter a B&W image. |

"Colour" is such an overrated word |

It is a real challenge to show complementary colors in black and white :) |

Black and white aren't colors, so they are not complementary, and this does not meet the challenge. I don't like the composition either. |

Not quite sure with this. seems too dark in some spots and washed in others. |

B&W is sometimes overused in our challenges. Black is not a colour. I am registering my extreme protest at this image with a rare 1 |

What does this have to do with complementary colors? |
