Challenge: Complementary Colors II (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Nikon D70
Lens: Nikon AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED
Location: Clough Pike, Cincinnati, OH
Date: Oct 2, 2005
Aperture: 29mm/4.0
ISO: 1600
Shutter: 1/8000
Galleries: Nature, Floral
Date Uploaded: Oct 2, 2005

Saw a bunch of goldenrod & asters along the road side. I had a feeling I did not get the goldenrod in focus, but obviously, I didn't. I really need to get a good understanding of how to work the aperature to get the depth of field I want.

Colours might have stood out more had you taken this a little closer.

Your photo would have demonstrated the effects of complementary colour contrast if you had changed your angle to show the violet flower in the middle against the goldenrod, and then cropped tightly to show just the violet and the yellow colours.

I think this would have benefitted from a tighter crop on the purple and yellow flowers.

If this was cropped just around the yellow and purple flowers I would have voted higher.

Maybe put the bacjground a little more out of focus, but very nice

In order to pull off a shot like these you really need to knock that background out of focus. Needed to be much closer to the subject and use as wide an aperture as you can.

As it is, I find the background way to busy and the floweres just dont stand out enough 2/10

good complements and DOF. I find myself thinking that I might like it better without the sky. Did you take any shots from closer up and at a downward angle?

Nice colour combinaton of flowers, but the background is a bit too fussy. Maybe a tighter crop or different angle so the purple and yellow were in contact and the background was more insignificant

i think cropping the image so you see more of the flowers would've been a little better, good idea tho

Since the challenge is complimentary colors, I would have cropped this much closer to the puple and yellow flowers.

Meets the challenge but there is too much going on in the photo, not enough emphasis placed on the 2 flowers.
